Vinum Importing and Distributing began in Seattle in 2004, sparked by a long- standing wine interest of Michael de Maar, the company founder. After careers in national government and global consulting, Mike was eager to follow his passion and called upon his long time friend and wine maker, Mike Etzel of Beaux Frères. This became Vinum’s first brand, and the business was born. The company expanded distribution into Oregon in 2008 with a team based in Portland, and then into Idaho in 2014.

Over the years, Vinum has added spirits, beer, cider, sake and non-alcoholic beverages to its portfolio. In 2012, we began distribution of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks. Bundaberg Ginger Beer continues to be our largest selling product. With the 2014 acquisition of Edward International, Vinum became the largest distributor of Japanese sakes in the Northwest.

Vinum continues to grow with our founder’s original goal in mind – to remain passionate about the brands and products we choose to represent.

At Vinum, we are passionate about returning to the basics: about sharing great wine, beer, spirits and cider among family and friends. It is our mission to discover brands from artisan producers around the world and bring them to your table. It’s not about chasing the beverages you are told you must like; it’s about helping you find variety and outstanding value, and reviving the excitement that comes from selecting and enjoying great wine, beer, spirits and cider.
